Virtues Classes
Virtues Classes rock!!
I am so happy whenever I hear of a virtues class going on somewhere, because this is really what children need. The article I've linked below says that the Baha'is have sponsored some 900 of such classes in the United States. And just as the name suggests, these are classes where Baha'is teach children, regardless of their religious inclination, virtues such as kindness, generosity, patience, truthfulness, etc. Abdu'l-Baha (the son of Baha'u'llah, founder of the Baha'i Faith) says:
As to thy question concerning training children: It is incumbent upon thee to nurture them from the breast of the love of God, to urge them towards spiritual matters, to turn unto God and to acquire good manners, best characteristics and praiseworthy virtues and qualities in the world of humanity, and to study sciences with the utmost diligence; so that they may become spiritual, heavenly and attracted to the fragrances of sanctity from their childhood and be reared in a religious, spiritual and heavenly training. Verily, I beg of God to confirm them therein.
(Abdu'l-Baha, Baha'i World Faith - Abdu'l-Baha Section, p. 383)
I am thinking that whenever I am on maternity leave :-) Okay, Sahar, you cannot tease me about this one....so, whenever I'm on maternity leave, it might be a good thing for me to try out. Or maybe when my kids are all grown up and I have more time on my hands. Anyway, a few friends have shared this wonderful story on npr.org with me. It was listed in this morning's edition. Check it out here.

We can see how transforming these classes are. More fun when the Arts are used in training the "most precious treasure a community can have." Blessings be upon all those engaged in these classes.
