Red for the Hogs!!!

We won!!!

I know very little about American football, I have to admit, but the spirit in the air during those times is almost palpable. It is just great. Everyone bonded by this united support behind the Arkansas Razorbacks.

The match was Arkansas Razorbacks (the Hogs) versus the Troy Trojans. Like I said, I don't understand American football very well (soccer is my game!), but I like the festive spirit that encircles everything and everybody during these times.

Friday, August 31, we were all requested to wear red in the office, if we could, in support of the team. We do that...wear red...whenever there is a home game. Sure, almost everyone did, variations of red with different combinations. But it so happened that a group of us wore actual red tops and white "bottoms" like we planned it. So, I said, why don't we take a picture together? So, there we are.

[The actual day of the game, Saturday, was so fun!! Lots of people, cars, tents, trailers, hogs, whistling, food, everything...in red and white. The Hogs had so much support!! It was wonderful!]

By the by, the office I work for at the University of Arkansas is called University Development. Here fundraising for the University development and advancement is coordinated, and a lot of research on donors and donor relations also occur. It is a very big and integral part of the university's work. I mean, before I joined the office, I always [naively] thought that all the money a university has comes from its students. Oh no...! Not by a long shot. Scholarships, endowments, buildings, theatres, stadiums, and many, many other projects are sponsored by alumni, private institutions, corporations, foundations, and individuals. And that's where we come in. So, anyway, the pictures below are with a handful of the big staff we have. Some of the pictures are taken in front of the hog fountain that stands outside the front area of our office. One is taken right infront of the first floor of our building. In the last picture, the wonderful lady I am leaning against is Sandy Edwards. One of the most remarkable Associate Vice Chancelor's the Office ever had. That was her last day working with us, and so I was particularly pleased to be able to get a photo with her.

As you can see, it was a particularly gorgeous day!!!

If you click on each picture, you can see a bigger version!!!
